Why should I contribute?

To reestablish the collaborative author. For years, scholars have consistently claimed that expertise is more important then consensus. We believe that this is not true. We can and should show these elitists the error of their ways
To get your ideas out to the general public. People want to hear your opinion. You can express your opinions on this site by either adding your own article or by contributing to an existing one.
For the thrill of being part in something new. This is the first massively collaborative law review, and we are ready to start a revolution.
For recognition among friends and piers. Anything that you contribute will be credited in your user page. If you contribute frequently enough, you will be become an articles editor or other board member.
For your resume. Law review membership greatly enhances your resume, and after your first edit is accepted, you are officially a member of the Wiki Legal Journal.

Despite years of collaborative success stories, traditional legal scholarship has not embraced these efforts. The Wiki Legal Journal is trying to overcome the plural author stigma and start a collaborative revolution in legal scholarship. This site's three objectives are 1) to get people to collaborate, 2) to produce a quality legal paper, and 3) to publish that paper in a legal journal. We accomplished objective 3) by creating the Wiki Legal Journal. Now reaching objectives 1) and 2) are up to YOU!

The purpose of this section is to allow you, the author, the ability to get free collaboration on your work. This process will allow you to give permission to potential contributors. You will also have a central website locationwhere you can store the paper and the source materials together.

Use our site to advertise your paper by posting an executive summary.
Potential contributors will contact you and you can invite them to collaborate on your paper.
Utilize a free online word processor at ThinkFree.com

Step 1: Create an account at thinkfree.com

ThinkFree.com (http://www.thinkfree.com/common/main.tfo) has an outstanding online free "Office" application suite (word processor, spreadsheet, etc.). Thinkfree is where you and your contributors will be able to edit the paper online. This will allow you and your team to work anywhere you can access the internet!

Step 2:Upload your paper to ThinkFree.

You can invite people to collaborate or edit your paper. We also recommend you put an executive summary of your paper in the Wiki Legal Journal's articles section and upload your file to this site (See Power of a Million Attorneys in the articles section). That way the internet community can contact you and you can decide to invite them to work on your paper.

The articles available for editing are in the Articles page on this site. We have decided to use thinkFree's (http://www.thinkfree.com)online word processor to create legal articles collaboratively. This word processor works pretty much exactly like word so once you get access it should be pretty easy to use.

For better or worse, legal writing is a bit different than everyday writing. Unless it's common knowledge, most things you say in legal writings require giving credit to the source. Lawyers want to have a citation after most sentences to ensure accuracy. So if you decide to change something in a draft, please cite to a relevant source.

Finding Legal Sources

If you are a law student or have access to either Westlaw or LexisNexis, then those databases will provide virtually unlimited information. For everyone else, please check out the following sites:
